Together with cookies we also use other techniques such as pixel tags. Such techniques enable third parties to place cookies on the website and collect information about how visitors use the website in order for us to optimise our marketing. We implement such techniques through Google Tag Manager (a tool facilitating website marketing and analytics).
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, mobile phone etc.) with information when you visit the website. There are temporary cookies and persistent cookies. Temporary cookies (also called session cookies) are saved on your device until you close the web browser. Persistent cookies are stored with an end date and when this date has passed the cookie is deleted. Cookies can be “first party” or “third party”. First party cookies are placed on the website by Fougett whereas third party cookies are placed on the website by someone other than Fougett.
Furthermore, cookies are usually segmented into four categories:
Necessary cookies – these cookies are essential for the function of the website.
Preference cookies – these cookies enable the website to save a visitor’s preferences in relation to e.g., language, currency or from where the user is visiting from.
Analytical cookies – these cookies are used to analyse how a visitor uses the website, for example what parts of the website it visits or what links it clicks, to improve the design and function of the website.
Marketing cookies – these cookies are used to track a visitor's use of the website. The information is used for marketing purposes.
